The .vc stands for vivaciously contrarian
Everyone assumed venture capital. I let them, then crossed it out.
When I bought beet.vc, everyone read the last two letters the same way. Venture capital. It's the obvious reading, which is exactly why I didn't want it.
So the homepage crosses it out. In its place: vivaciously contrarian.
we don't invest capital
We invest obsession.
Time, attention, the unglamorous hours. Capital is the most replaceable thing a builder can be handed. Someone who cares as much as you do is not.
why a beet
Most of a beet is underground. The leaves are what you see; the root is what matters. That felt right for a place that's more about what's growing than what's showing.
